Attendance, Illness, & Dropped Class Policies
Policy concerning dropping a class:
Please register for classes carefully. Our teachers are making a commitment to teach your children for a full school year and you need to make the same commitment. Registration fees, any tuition fees, and supply fees you pay are nonrefundable. Students who do not pay their tuition by 2:00 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of every month will not be allowed to attend classes until payment has been made.
There is only a 6-week drop period. If you do not drop a class before the drop period ends, you are obligated for the entire year’s tuition, even if you are paying out the yearly fee on a monthly basis. Each class’ tuition is a yearly tuition commitment that we allow parents to pay by the month. Dropping a class after the drop period has ended does not release the parent from paying for the rest of the year.
The 6-week drop period ends at the end of class day on the 6th class day of the year, which will be Tuesday September 23, 2014 at 3:30 p.m.
Of course, there are always those extreme exceptions to any rule that a family might encounter during the year.
So, please discuss these issues with the Star Academy Administrators.
Illness and Missed Classes Policy:
If a student will be absent, it is the parent’s responsibility to inform the teacher either by phone or email. Please do not bring children to class day that have had fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or other contagious conditions in the last 24 hours. For lice, we have a no-nit policy. If your child requires any medication, please keep it with you and administer it yourself or allow them to bring it and take it themselves.
Teachers are not required to make up classes that your child may miss. Parents or students should request make-up work from the teacher and work at home to ensure that they are caught up by the next class.
Attendance at class day is very important. Since students are only meeting with their teachers once per week, it is vitally important that they be there. Please, as a rule, do not schedule family vacations when a class day will be missed. Students should not miss more than 1 class day per semester, and this should be reserved for a sick day. Try to save family vacations for the weeks that we are off. There's a school calendar in the files section of the yahoo group website.
Inclement Weather Policy:
If the weather is bad enough for Schertz/Cibolo/UCISD public schools to close, we will be closed also. We have one weather day built into our school calendar, in case school cancellation due to bad weather.
