Course description: Middle school math will focus on foundational skills in mathematics including operations with decimals, fractions and integers, order of operations, interpreting charts and data, probability, proportional reasoning, and basic geometric concepts. Manipulatives and hands-on exploration will be used to reinforce concepts.

Course expectations and grading: Students are expected to actively participate during class, complete homework in a timely manner, and seek help when needed. Weekly tutoring sessions will be available to all students. Weekly homework may take up to 2 hours per week to complete. Tests will be given periodically.

Prealgebra

Course description: The primary focus of prealgebra is working with variables in expressions. Students will work extensively with expressions containing variables and apply their knowledge working with fractions, decimals, and integers to solve increasingly complex equations. Students will also explore graphing, working with exponents, and adding and subtracting polynomials.

Course expectations and grading: Students are expected to actively participate during class, complete homework in a timely manner, and seek help when needed. Weekly tutoring sessions will be available to all students. Weekly homework may take up to 4 hours per week to complete. Tests will be given periodically.

Algebra 1

Course description: Algebra 1 is a preparatory course for Geometry and Algebra 2. This course will focus on working with expressions and will introduce students to polynomials, factoring, quadratic equations, graphing, properties of exponents, advanced problem solving principles, advanced linear equations, square roots and radicals, math models, and rational expressions.

Course expectations and grading: Students are expected to actively participate during class, complete homework in a timely manner, and seek help when needed. Course description: Algebra 2 is a preparatory course for Precalculus. This course will focus on functions and introduce the student to advanced concepts of matrices, complex numbers, exponential and logarithmic functions, rational functions, quadratic relations, sequences and series, probability, and data analysis.

Course expectations and grading: Students should expect to spend an additional hour in virtual lecture each week. Students are expected to actively participate during class, complete homework in a timely manner, and seek help when needed. Weekly tutoring sessions will be available to all students. Weekly homework may take up to 4 hours per week to complete. Tests will be given periodically.

Geometry

Course description: Geometry students will explore plane, solid, and coordinate geometry in both theoretical and real-world application. Students will hone reasoning skills as they explore topics such as congruence, similarity, areas and volumes, transformations, and constructions.

Course expectations and grading: This is an online course that will meet twice per week. Weekly tutoring sessions will be available to all students. Weekly homework may take 4-6 hours per week to complete. Tests will be given periodically.
